Why have my scheduled jobs that use mail notification stopped working?

Solution:
SQLAgentMail can also stop responding when invoked from a scheduled job in SQL Agent. Refer to the response to question 13 for the most common reasons that cause SQL Mail to stop responding. For example, when SQLAgentMail pages an operator after the completion of a scheduled job, this is a synchronous call. If the connection to the mail server stops responding, for whatever reason, then the job scheduler that issued the command to send mail stops responding and no other scheduled jobs can run until the problem is corrected and the SQL Server Agent is stopped and restarted.
