Avoiding the #VALUE! Error When Adding Cells That May Contain Blanks

Problem:

The following formula:
=IF(A5>0,B5+C5-A5)
returns the #VALUE! error because an inadvertant blank space is stored in cell B5.

Solution:

Use the IF and SUM functions as shown in the following formula:
=IF(A5>0,SUM(B5:C5)-A5)
