Want to restore MS Word to its factory-default user settings

Solution:
The Data key is a Registry key (entry) where Windows stores the majority of your user-selectable options for Word. It is possible to delete this file without having to reinstall Word, as the program simply reconstructs the missing key the next time it is loaded, using the factory-default settings instead of the settings you selected previously.
Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open field, and click OK. Expand the following folders by clicking the plus signs (+) next to them: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\OFFICE\10.0\WORD (substituting folder 11.0 for 10.0 if you use Office 2003). Right-click the Data folder and click Delete. Click Yes when the confirmation dialog box appears, close the Registry Editor, and open Word. The Data key is reconstructed and Word should start up.
