Example: login to bitstop.prepys.com/wp-admin

Then go to "Media"
Click Add New
Select Files (and choose the file that you want to upload, for me I choose the Desert.jpg)

and got the ff. error;

“Desert.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory /home/www/bitstop/wp-content/uploads/2011/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

So that I remoted the homeservice server (202.91.163.26) and login.

type the ff:

cd /homw/www/bitstop/
chmod 775 wp-contents -R
cd wp-contents
chown apache:apache uploads -R

Then tried again to upload the Desert.jpg via wp-admin and there is no error now.

Upon checking at the server, there is an automatic created folder 2011

Checking the folders under the uploads:
drwxrwxr-x 3 apache apache 4096 Feb 8 18:49 2006
drwxrwxr-x 3 apache apache 4096 Jun 29 10:16 2011

Also there is an automatic folder under 2011 which is the folder 06

Checking the folders under the 2011:
total 12
drwxrwxr-x 3 apache apache 4096 Jun 29 10:16 .
drwxrwxr-x 4 apache apache 4096 Jun 29 10:16 ..
drwxrwxr-x 2 apache apache 4096 Jun 29 10:16 06

And the Desert.jpg is already found at the folder 06

Checking the files under the 06:

total 840
drwxrwxr-x 2 apache apache 4096 Jun 29 10:16 .
drwxrwxr-x 3 apache apache 4096 Jun 29 10:16 ..
-rw-rw-r-- 1 apache apache 845941 Jun 29 10:16 Desert.jpg
