When selecting text using the mouse, Word automatically selects the punctuation next to the last word selected

Solution: This is a common problem selecting text from left to right, top to bottom. Try placing the cursor to the left of the punctuation you want to avoid selecting and select the block of text from right to left, bottom to top. If you also don't want Word to select entire words (plus the spaces that follow them) automatically, expand the Tools menu, click Options, choose the Edit tab, and remove the check mark from the When Selecting, Automatically Select Entire Word checkbox. | |
